Description
The Vermont Granite Museum is located within an 1895 granite manufacturing plant, which is 300 feet long and 28,000 square feet. Within the building are a working blacksmith shop, active sculpting studio, and thousands of objects related to the state’s granite industry, including 750 plaster models made by local sculptors. On the museum grounds, which is along the Stevens Branch of the Winooski River, are granite sculptures and the 1949 diesel locomotive of the Barre & Chelsea Railroad. The museum has a theater that seats 64 and a performance stage with seating for up to 120.
