Shayna Sherwood

Shayna Sherwood is a dynamic and accomplished Casting Director who has built a reputation in the entertainment industry through her expertise, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit. Raised in Vermont, Shayna is deeply connected to her roots. From a young age, Shayna witnessed the power of hard work, dedication, and the importance of building lasting relationships. Her father, Arthur Sherwood, worked in Montreal, while her mother, Margo Sherwood, established herself as a respected figure in Vermont’s Antique and Collectibles industry while running a successful family Real Estate Company.
Shayna graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson) with a degree in Radio and Television Arts and immediately headed to Los Angeles in 2010. Shayna’s journey in Los Angeles was nothing short of exciting. Initial internships and assistant jobs at Fox, ABC, HBO, and Disney provided onset experience on shows like American Idol, Wizards of Waverly Place, Austin & Ally, and The Newsroom. She worked alongside industry legends like Carol Goldwasser (Hannah Montana, Austin & Ally) and Francine Maisler (12 Years a Slave, HBO’s The Newsroom), which sharpened her skills in strategic thinking, talent discovery, and navigating high-pressure environments.
The rise of social media influencers provided Shayna with a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between traditional actors and digital influencers, positioning her as one of the most sought-after casting directors in Los Angeles during the mid-2010s. As a key partner at Doro/Sherwood Casting, a company she co-founded in 2015 with Nickole Doro amid the social media influencer boom, Shayna’s team was one of the first to cast for emerging platforms. They even worked on the first-ever feature film shot entirely through the Snapchat app.
Shayna’s influence spans across traditional TV, film, and digital content, having played a pivotal role in casting for projects like All That (Nickelodeon), independent films, and innovative short-form digital content for new platforms. Her work on All That earned her and Nickole an Emmy nomination for Casting Director, as well as a prestigious Casting Society’s Artios Award for their outstanding work on the series.
While continuing to pursue casting, Shayna has recently embraced her next passion: producing. In 2024, she earned her first Associate Producer credit for the indie film Christmas Cowboy, shot in her beloved home state of Vermont. This venture marks the beginning of Shayna’s growing interest in producing and expanding her contributions to the entertainment industry. A proud Vermonter, Shayna is committed to bringing major film productions to her home state. She is actively collaborating with the Vermont Production Collective to help support and grow the industry, paving the way for its future success in Vermont.
Shayna is a member of the Vermont Production Collective, the Casting Society of America, Los Angeles Teamsters Union 399, and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
